MORE ABOUT GUEST AUTHOR WENDY LEDGER

Wendy Ledger is the author of three books, Joy Returns!, Kate and the Horses, and The Loudest Meow: A Talking Cat Fantasy (Book 1: The Cats of the Afterlife Series). Book 2 of this series, The Sharpest Claw, will be available this fall. Wendy lives in Northern California with her husband and their three cats.

Her latest book is entitled The Loudest Meow: A Talking Cat Fantasy (Book 1 in the Cats of the Afterlife Series).

Book Description:
What happens to cats when they die?

For Jem, a calico cat, it’s a catastrophe. She knows she’s not meant to be in the afterlife. Not yet. She’s certainly not ready to face the cats she knew before. Not now. Maybe not ever.

Clearly, a mistake has been made. Surely, it can be corrected, and Jem can return home to her life on earth. All of this could then be written off as one very bad dream. But when would the nightmare end?

Excerpt:
She descended into sound—yowls and calls, snores, and a few purrs–and landed hard on a plastic chair, bounced, and skidded on a dirty, cold floor. So her paws were back on the ground. But where was she? This certainly wasn’t her home.
“Watch where you’re going!” a skinny cat hollered as he sidestepped out of her way.
“I’m sorry,” Jem cried and lowered herself as far as she could on the ground, so he could see she meant no harm.
A striped cat with a torn ear bent down and gave her a sniff. “She’s a Shiny,” he said. “Probably her first landing.”
The skinny cat smirked. “That’s what happens when you fight the fall.”
“What do you mean?” Jem cried. She lifted her head up, but she still cowered. “I don’t understand. Where am I?”
“She really doesn’t know anything,” the striped cat sniggered.
“Welcome to the Station of New and Lost Souls,” the skinny cat called over his shoulder as he and the striped cat sauntered away.
