Random Thoughts from my Writer Brain as 2022 Comes to a close

Hello everyone in the blogosphere,

As 2022 winds to a close, I’ve had some interesting thoughts about objects moving in a circular motion. I guess you could say my little tidbits of inspiration are spinning and weaving an interesting circular web. May you find inspiration in the randomness as my writer brain spins its web of disconnected thoughts that make no sense as a whole, but may spark inspiration in some weird fashion for my characters to weave into their stories, or that get woven into bits of poetry. You never know what life’s quirks can become fodder to inspire creativity. My random tidbits are as follows. May they inspire you as you work on your own creative projects this week.

The dial turns and spins until it faces the Northern Horizon.

How long can you spin a wheat penny. Does it spin longer than a regular copper penny? Will it stop when it faces the northern horizon, or just land on heads or tails?

I ponder these thoughts as I wind up a music box and listen to the music as the turn table spins and unwinds the ever-spinning spring.

Nothing or no one can move forward, while going in circles, but wheels spin as they propel a vehicle forward. However, as the throttle breaks, the wheels move, but they don’t spin with much speed. They cause the vehicle to creep along at a snail’s pace. Yet, when all the faulty parts are either fixed or replaced, the vehicle runs smoothly, until something else breaks.

When a record spins, though nothing can move forward while going in a circle, the record player’s needle moves forward along the grooves as the music plays. Does the record turn into a wheel winding the music around the spindle in the center of the turn table? As I listen to music on my Echo dot, which looks like a thick round disk, I picture a little wheel spinning inside it as I stream songs from Amazon music.

What of a fidget spinner? Its shape is not necessarily a circle, unless you count the plastic pieces holding the baring in place. It looks like a circle, but it has three legs, like the spokes of an invisible wheel. The spokes have weights or bearings to keep the spinner balanced. It makes a fun clickety, clickety click sound as it spins as fast as you can flick it with one finger. As it winds down, the clicking sound slows to a stop.

I could talk about spinning tops, but there are too many tops to think about, much less talk about. I love spinning a top and seeing how long it will spin before it stops.

My thoughts are going in random circles, but the circle is a fun shape to think about, because it rolls, spins, and whirls, unless it’s a plate or a bowl, then it doesn’t matter the shape, because it holds food. However, the singing bowl doesn’t spin, but the striker moves in a circular motion as you play the calming centering tune that resonates and vibrates through your body as you meditate on God’s word and find inspiration for writing. The past is but a whirlwind of memories. Hold on to the precious ones and let the rest spin away into the abyss. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post as I share my random thoughts about something as simple and complex as a circle. I’m going to roll on out of here, but let me know in the comments what random thoughts your writer brain drums up in the midst of your busy life. I hope y’all had a Merry Christmas and I wish you many blessings in 2023. Until next time, happy reading and writing, and God bless each and every one of you.

Hugs,

Ann
