Original Poetry: The Cozy Feeling of Christmas

Hello lovely readers,

Below is a poem that describes what Christmas feels like to me this year. Study the picture above and read the poem. Does Christmas feel this way to you? If not, how does your Christmasy feeling differ from the picture and the description in the poem?

Feel free to use these questions as a journal reflection, or you can leave your answers in the comments below, or write your own blog post answering these questions, with a pingback to this post.

In my mind’s eye I see,

A reading nook that feels so cozy.

With a crackling fire

And my favorite book,

In a comfy chair

In my reading nook.

Christmas music turned down low,

The lights on the tree, all aglow

Hot chocolate in my favorite cup

A candy cane spoon to boost it up.

My cup on the table

My book in my lap,

A dog at my feet

Taking a nap.

I open my book and immerse myself

In a story about a jolly old elf.

This elf is in a fantasy land

I get lost in the world,

Until the dog licks my hand.

I look at the clock and shout, “Oh my!

How the evening has flown so quickly by.”

I get out of my chair

And put the book up,

I let the dog out

And clean my cup.

I let the dog back in

And turn out the lights

I head down the hall

Wishing everyone good night.

I hunker down all snug in my bed,

While visions of my story dance in my head.

May this holiday season

Bring you Joy and good cheer

Merry Christmas to all

And a Happy New Year.
