MORE ABOUT GUEST AUTHOR Carla Vergot…

Carla Vergot taught special education in Virginia for years before taking a sabbatical to write her first book— Lily Barlow: The Mystery of Jane Dough. The experience was fulfilling, and while she missed touching the lives and minds of elementary school kids, she decided to resign from teaching permanently in order to write the second book in the series — Lily Barlow: The Mystery in the Mangroves — which was released in March, 2020.
Carla recycles, gardens, and rescues bugs. For fun, she loves to travel, camp, fish and drive her Jeep off road. Her favorite food is a homegrown tomato on white bread with Duke’s mayonnaise. Her favorite dessert is a marshmallow on a stick by a campfire with friends. She lives with her husband and two rescue dogs in Virginia and is working on Lily Barlow 3 now.

Book Title:
Lily Barlow: The Mystery in the Mangroves (Book 2 in the Lily Barlow series)

Description:

Lily Barlow: The Mystery in the Mangroves is Book 2 in the Lily Barlow series. It picks up right where Book 1 left off. In the first book, Lily managed to untangle one mystery, only to have that launch the next adventure. In Book 2, Lily and her friends travel to the Florida Keys looking for answers to the identity of the murdered woman with the purple flower tattoo. Meanwhile, Lily wrestles with her future as she reconsiders her major at the University of Virginia. Throw in the romantic advances from her best friend, Jack, and Lily has her hands full. McNugget, the chicken, and Miss Delphine, Lily’s temporary landlady, are both back in LB2.

Excerpt:

..someone had tossed paint on the rock cairn. Lilac. Yellow. Carolina Blue. The colors ran into each other in a way that implied the task was conceived and/or completed in haste. “What happened here?” I asked, my voice edged with excitement that could’ve been mistaken for panic.
“Looks like a unicorn threw up,” Joe offered.
