Is there a child in your life that fills you with the memories of your own childhood? No matter whether you are the parent of a child, or you have a child in your family, or your job that fills your heart with joy, these children can bring back memories of childhood for many adults, through their activities or the books you read with them. Sometimes, even the children’s music or TV shows they watch can spark memories of old.
I personally have times like this, especially when I listen to audio books, or actually read books with my own daughter. These activities bring back precious memories of my own childhood from the books I listened to, to the records and tapes I enjoyed listening to for hours on end, to something as simple as swinging on the swings at home or on the school playground. I even remember listening to a little transistor radio that I got when I was about seven or eight years old for several hours a day, until I got my own small stereo-type radio with a tape deck, then I played cassettes on that day in and day out, when I wasn’t doing homework or reading.
Sometimes these and other memories can even work their way into your subconscious. For me personally, I have had dreams of downloading digital versions of books I used to listen to when I was a child, to share with my own daughter. I don’t remember the books I read back then, because I read so many since that time, that I have lost count. However, these memories are precious to me, as I am sure they would be for you and your children. God has richly blessed me with these precious memories, so that I might relive them through the eyes of my own child.
Before I end my memory essay, I’d like to encourage you to make precious memories with your children, grandchildren, and the children in your families, or those you work with on a daily basis as teachers or care givers. I also have a word of encouragement for any children who may one day read my blog, I fervently pray that you will hold on to the memories you make with your parents, grandparents, and other family members and teachers for the rest of your life, because you can never relive those precious moments again. God gives us these moments, so that we may reflect on the blessings He has bestowed upon us throughout our lives here on this earth, so I ask that you never take these precious moments, or the memories you make, for granted, as they are precious gifts from God. I will now leave you with a children’s verse that I’m sure all of my readers will remember from their own childhoods.
Love and prayers to all my readers,
Ann
Star light star bright,
First star I see tonight,
Wish I may wish I might,
Have this wish I wish tonight.

I used to say that every time we were outside in the winter and dusk fell. The north star was always the first star we would see. Remember the past, for the child inside never forgets. dp

Don’t have any children or grandchildren but reading and music are two of my favorite things.
