An Amazing Discovery I made about myself as a Person and as a Writer

Hello everyone,

Today I’d like to talk to you about a huge discovery I made about my creativity and my work as an author.

As you well know, by reading my character interviews and such, I love Christian fiction and mysteries. However, there’s one more genre I find fun and exciting to write and this genre is fantasy. I don’t mean the dark fantasy some authors write. No, my fantasy is clean, has a Christian fiction flair, and a hint of mystery. The magic I use is good magic, to ward off the evils of my world. I have created magical creatures that rescue people and animals in trouble, and two girls earn their wings after assisting with the rescue mission and discovering the truth about their supposed friend.

Will I still write my Christian mysteries and thrillers? Certainly, but I want to be known as a multi-faceted author, therefore I may experiment with other genres, but make my novels clean and easy for my readers to digest. If it turns my stomach, I won’t read it, nor will I write it and subject you to such literature, though there are those of you who like this type of writing style.

I encourage you to follow me down my creative journey as I make discoveries about myself as a Christian, a woman, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, let’s just say an all-around human being, and last, but certainly not least, as a writer. Thank you for reading and sharing my amazing discovery.

Before I leave you to ponder my revelation, I have one final question for you, my dear reader. What amazing discoveries have you made as a creative person? Please share your aha moments in the comments below. God bless you and happy writing.

  1. My “aha moment” was when I visited a friend in Washington, whom I had not seen in 30+ years. She always amazed me with her gifts and talents. I watched her many years ago, lay out a piece of material, then put a blouse on top of it, figure out how cut said material, and sew it into a beautiful new blouse. I watched her create decoupage designs, paint lovely pictures, write such serene poetry. She could even copy a hairstyle out of a magazine just by looking at it. She had no training as a beautician. Where her kids were little she made their baby food. Why couldn’t I have any of those talents? Did the Lord have to give them all to one person? And she had a great personality besides. Wow! But when I visited her two years ago she had opened a studio to teach art classes. She sat me at a table beside her and said, “Kay, anyone can learn to paint.” I said, “You don’t understand. I can’t even draw a cat.” She laughed, put a canvas in front of each of us, along with a jar of water and a jar of paint brushes. Between us sat a picture she had already painted for her class. She coached me with each step, and, to my great surprise, I duplicated the picture. I bought a drawing pad and a book that teaches how to draw flowers. I’m dabbling at it. My first love is still writing (well, after God, family, and church). Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you.
